Mbozi Meteorite: Discover One of the World’s Largest Meteorites in Tanzania

Mbozi meteorite or the Kimondo in Swahili language are 4th largest of its Kind in the world. It’s one of the most popular sites in the Songwe Region which is about 62 Kilometers of the Mbeya Township. The Mbozi Meteorite is about 3 meters long and about 1 meter high. It weighs about 25 metric tons. There is a legend that suggests that ere was a rivary that was in the area and this Mbozi Meteorite came to quench this rivalry. The Mbozi Meteorite was discovered in 1930.

Best time to visit.

This is a place that is open to visitors year-round. However, it is suggested that you visit during the dry months on a safari. From mid-June to September, and from December to February, are the dry months. It can rain at any time in this tropical region, even if these are dry months. November through October and March through mid-June are the wet months. Despite the rainy months, you can still go there. However, this does not imply that rain falls every day of the week throughout the rainy months.
