Ngorongoro in August

You can Visit the Serengeti National park and Tanzania in time of the year but you will have to choose the time carefully considering your interests and budget. The area has two seasons, the wet and dry seasons. The seasons also come in two as well. There are two dry seasons and two wet seasons in a year. The dry season runs from December to February and Mid June to September.

The wet seasons run from October to November and March to mid June. Despite the fact that the month can be dry, it is also cold especially in the early mornings. There are no guarantees that there will be no rains Ngorongoro in August since it’s a dry season. August being the middle month of the season, it’s expected to be hot but you should carry some clothes for the rain.

It’s best that you talk to your operator and you come up with the best time for your safari considering your needs and budget.

Packing List.

Try not to have very tight clothes while in the Ngorongoro Conservation area. Loose clothes will give you a chance to manage both heat and the cold. Don’t carry unnecessary clothes, you can wash and redo some of them. Most hotels and camps will give you laundry services. Make sure the clothes you carry can work for the different weather conditions in the Ngorongoro conservation area; it can shine or rain anytime of the day.

  • Some cash with a variety of different bills.
  • Your passport or any travel documents.
  • Flight ticket
  • Torch or flashlights.
  • A camera, batteries, memory card and all the other equipment.
  • Some snacks if you can
  • Toiletries
  • A small medical kit they includes first aid medical care like remedies for stomach upsets, Headaches, burns, allergies, food poisoning, anti malarial, some sleeping pills and many others that will suit your medical conditions. Talk to your doctor and make sure you carry only what they advise you to have.
