Northern Highland Forest Reserve of Ngorongoro

Day 1: Arusha to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

You will be picked up from the airport or your hotel in Arusha and transferred to Ngorongoro conservation area. Enjoy the scenic drive as you journey along, the country side of Tanzania and the beautiful landscapes in the backdrop. In about 2 hours, you will be in the conservation area and as you drive to your accommodation, enjoy some wildlife sightings.

Once at the lodge, you will check in, have your lunch and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Settle in and take in your new surroundings, the wilderness.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater floor game drive

Time to explore the picturesque crater. After breakfast, you will descend into the wildlife filled crater floor for a remarkable and memorable game viewing experience. A chance to spot the Big 5 as they inhabit the crater. So, look out for the elusive leopard, the elephant, lion, buffalo and the endangered black rhino among many other animals, hippos, jackals, gazelles, hyenas, cheetahs and bird species that inhabit the vast crater. Later, you will exit the crater on a step way up and drive back to your lodge for lunch.

After lunch and some relaxation time, you will head out for a cultural experience. Visit a Maasai village, interact with Maasai people and get to learn about their day to day livelihoods and traditions. Take part in their traditional dance and making simple beaded crafts. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Guided walking safari in Ngorongoro

Enjoy your breakfast and after head out for a walking safari in the Ngorongoro conservation area with an armed ranger guide. Get to view the wildlife on ground and enjoy the smaller creatures you miss out on while is car on a game drive like the interesting dung beetle. Take in the vast open plains and the scenic landscapes. After the walk, get back into the car and go for a game drive around the crater rim and other areas of the conservation area.

Stop for a lunch break at a safe designated picnic area with amazing views. Enjoy your meal as you watch the birds fly by and the animals roam the park from a distance. Proceed with another game drive as you drive back to your lodge for a relaxing evening.

Day 4: Back to Arusha

Enjoy last minute game viewing sightings as you drive out of Ngorongoro heading back to Arusha with an optional visit to the Oldupai Museum. Drop off at your hotel or at the airport for your flight.
