Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up to Lake Manyara National Park
The safari guide will pick you from Arusha and drive you to Lake Manyara national park which lies in the East African rift valley. Covered mostly by the Lake of which it is named after, Lake Manyara national park is home to hundreds of bird species which include the water birds attracted to the park by Lake Manyara offering a rich bird watching experience. These include flamingoes, pelicans, storks, herons and more.
The park is also famously known for the rare tree climbing lions which you will get a chance to see while on an afternoon game drive once you arrive at the park among other animals like hippos, elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, hyenas and leopards. Dinner and overnight at your accommodation.
Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park to Serengeti National Park
Exit Lake Manyara national park in the early after your breakfast and drive to one of Africa’s most famous safari destinations, Serengeti national park through the beautiful highlands of Karatu. Enjoy the scenic drive.
On arrival at your accommodation in Serengeti, you will have lunch and then head out for a late afternoon game drive. Serengeti has a rich and deep wildlife presence, teeming with hundreds of predators with high chances of seeing the big cats on a game drive; that is the lions, cheetahs and leopards among other animals like millions of wildebeests, thousands and hundreds of zebras, Thomson’s and grant’s gazelles, antelopes, giraffes, buffalos, hippos, hyenas, Nile crocodiles, rhinos, jackals, ostriches, barbets, vultures among so many others. Overnight and dinner at your accommodation.
Day 3: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
In the morning after breakfast, you will continue exploring different habitats in Serengeti for chances to spot some wildlife that you might have missed out the previous day. Chances of watching the predators on a morning hunt as they tend to be more active in the morning.
Procced with the game drive into the scenic Ngorongoro conservation area. Check in at your accommodation. Have lunch. Relax a bit and thereafter head out for a game drive in areas around the crater rim. Return for dinner and an overnight.
Day 4: Ngorongoro crater drive and transfer back to Arusha
After breakfast, drive to the crater rim. Downward you go, 600 meters into the crater for an adventurous game drive. Home to over 25,000 animals with large numbers of zebra, wildebeests (gnus), buffalos and gazelles. All attracting a large population of predators including hundreds of lions… Leopards, cheetahs, jackals and hyenas. Great chances of seeing the Big as they inhabit the Ngorongoro crater habitats, even the endangered black rhinos.
After your picnic lunch, drive up the steep crater walls. Exit the conservation area and drive to Arusha to catch your flight back home.
