Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park
Your safari starts with a pick up from Arusha. You will drive to Lake Manyara National Park for your first game drive. The park is known for tree climbing lions and is home to elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, gazelles, and many bird species. Flamingos, pelicans, and herons are often seen near the lake shore. After the game drive, you will head to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 and Day 3: Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you will leave Lake Manyara and drive to Serengeti National Park. The drive takes you through the highlands and into the open plains of the Serengeti. This park is famous for the Great Wildlife Migration, where large herds of wildebeests and zebras move across the plains depending on the season.
You will spend two days exploring Serengeti, including the Seronera area, which is rich in resident wildlife. Expect to see lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, hippos, and many birds. Game drives will be done in the morning and afternoon, with meals and overnight stays at your lodge or camp.
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive
Early in the morning, you will leave Serengeti and drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. The crater is home to over 25,000 animals, including lions, black rhinos, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, warthogs, and many birds such as flamingos. After the game drive, you will exit the crater and head to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Lake Eyasi Tour
This day is dedicated to culture and nature around Lake Eyasi. You will visit the Hadzabe and Datoga communities who live near the lake. Learn about hunting, gathering, farming, and traditional ways of life. You may also see birds and animals around the lake area. Dinner and overnight will be arranged near Lake Eyasi or Karatu.
Day 6: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park. This park is known for large elephant herds and old baobab trees. A full day game drive gives you a chance to see lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, and many birds near the Tarangire River. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 7: Return to Arusha
After a short morning game drive, you will drive back to Arusha for your hotel drop off or departure flight. This marks the end of your 7-Day Tanzania Wildlife, Lake Eyasi and Cultural Tour.
