Detailed Safari Itinerary

15 Days Gorilla Trekking & Wildebeest Migration Tour

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

On arrival at Kigali airport, your safari guide will pick you up and drive you to Kigali, a beautiful and clean city. Depending on your arrival time, you can opt to visit he genocide memorial center otherwise proceed to have lunch before continuing Northwest to your accommodation NEAR Volcanoes national park for dinner and a restful night in preparation for gorilla trekking the following day.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

An experience that will be engraved on your mind for life. Into the lush green forest, you will go early in the morning to trek the mountain gorillas after a briefing from the park officials. The trek might take 2-6 hours but the end result is worth it. You will spend a whole hour with the amazing apes, watching them and learning more about their existence and survival in their natural habitat. They are an endangered species. Return back to your accommodation for lunch and relaxation with an option to visit the local villages for some cultural experience. Otherwise enjoy the rest of your day at leisure.

Day 3: Flight to Arusha, Tanzania

After your breakfast in your accommodation in Volcanoes national park, you will check out and drive back to Kigali where your driver will drop you at the airport for your connecting flight to Tanzania.

On arrival at Arusha airport, your safari guide will pick you up and drive you to your hotel in Arusha city. Check in and have the rest of your day to yourself or you can check out Arusha city.

Day 4: Drive to Serengeti National Park

Your safari guide will pick you up and drive you to the most popular destination in Tanzania, Serengeti national park. Arrive at your accommodation in time for lunch after which you will head out for an afternoon game drive. Expect to see wildebeests, zebras, lions, elephants, gazelles and more. Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Game drive in Serengeti National Park

You will spend today driving into and around the open Savannah grassland plains of the Serengeti national park. This vast park is a host of a wide variety of different animal and bird species offering excellent African game viewing drives. During the great migration season, you can expect to watch millions of wildebeests accompanied by other ungulates on the move in search of greener pastures in the different regions of the Serengeti.

Day 6: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Early morning breakfast and departure from Serengeti driving to the famous Ngorongoro crater in Ngorongoro conservation area. You will go on and descend into the crater for a game drive at the crater floor. Be sure to see lions, elephants, hippos, wildebeests, buffalos, cheetahs, hyenas, zebras and different bird species like flamingos among others. Have your picnic lunch and ascend to the rim of the crater and continue exploring the conservation reserve for more wildlife sightings and scenic views. Retire to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Drive to Arusha airport

We come to the end of your 7-day safari, with one more game drive as you leave Ngorongoro through the Serengeti. Drop off at the airport in Arusha.
