Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali to Nyungwe National Park

Your safari guide will pick you up from an allocated place in Kigali or your accommodation and drive you to Nyungwe national park. You make some stops on your way to visit the Rwanda national museum, genocide memorial center, the Nyanza King’s palace in Butare and a stop to have lunch after which you will continue to your accommodation in Nyungwe where you will spend the night.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe National Park

After your morning breakfast, you will be driven to the park’s offices for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking before entering into the forest to track down the playful primates. It will take you about 3-5 hours to find a troop of chimpanzees and you will be given an hour to watch them as they play around, look for fruits to eat as the ranger guide tells you more about their behaviors.

Return to your accommodation for lunch and thereafter, you will go on a walking trail that will lead you to canopy walk way handing up in the trees for a bird’s eye kind of view over the lush green Nyungwe forest. Return to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest in Uganda

Have an early breakfast, check out of your room and drive towards Cyanika border to cross into Kisoro, Uganda. En-route before leaving Rwanda, you will visit Iby’wacu cultural village for a Rwandese cultural experience.

Have lunch and continue into Uganda, check into your accommodation, freshen up and call it a day.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After your breakfast, you will be driven to the headquarters of the park for a short briefing about the do’s and don’ts of gorilla tracking, you will then go into the forest to search for the mountain gorillas. Might take you about 2-6 hours as the apes keep moving from one place to another. Spend an hour in their presence then head back to your accommodation and have a delicious lunch. You have an option of going on a walk and visit a Batwa community for some cultural experience or stay back at your accommodation for a relaxing evening.

Day 5:  Flight to Kenya

Available options: Drive to Kisoro airstrip for a domestic flight to Entebbe international airport to catch your flight to Jomo Kenyatta airport or drive back to Kigali and board a flight from Kigali to Jomo Kenyatta airport where the company representative will pick you up and take you to your hotel in Kenya where you will spend the night. Day 6-7: In Maasai Mara National Reserve

Maasai Mara national reserve is one of the famous tourist destinations in Kenya. Located in South Kenya, Maasai Mara is famed by the river crossing at the Mara River by millions of wildebeests during the great wildlife migration.

You will embark on game drives at different times of the day to explore the Maasai Mara plains for a full game viewing experience. Optional activities include hot air balloon safari or Maasai community visit.

7-Day Kenya Tanzania Safari to Maasai Mara & Serengeti

Day 8-9: In Serengeti National Park

Renowned to the world for the great wildebeest migration, Serengeti offers amazing game viewing adventures. Look out for lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, hartebeests, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, gazelles, buffalos, black rhinos, hyenas, water-bucks among others.

Day 10: Ngorongoro Crater game drive and transfer to Arusha

Drive to the rim of the crater. Descend to the floor of the crater for a 5-hour long game drive. Explore the different habitats that support the diverse wildlife and bird-life. After the game drive, have your lunch and then drive to Arusha to catch your flight back home.
